“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Today as we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, I am reminded of just how powerful light is. Not the literal light (although we know it can be blinding too) but the light that is housed within all of us. The light that offers the world a glimpse of who you are without you uttering one word of your truth.
We have two options in regards to our light; either let it shine or allow darkness to over power it. Truth is. Life offers just as many opportunities for you to allow your light to shine as it does for you to allow your light to be dimmed… The choice is solely up to you.
Yeah, I know that many times, we find ourselves in situations where darkness seems to be the victor but I promise a little light goes a long way. All you have to do is remain positive. Oh and, combination of love and light is one that darkness can’t even compete with.
Even when we talk fashion, light is powerful. No matter what you wear, your light will assist in determining whether it is a slay or a nay. Why? Simple, because your vibe dictates… EVERYTHING!
I have been told so many different things about wearing black. I know you have heard many of them too and my response to all of those things are… DUST! NOPE! I will not give it any energy; I WEAR WHAT I WANT!
JUST SO YOU KNOW:
• Wearing black will not make you look skinny, I wear a sizes 24-28 (depending on clothing and the cut) and no matter what color I wear, I never look skinny.
• Wearing black doesn’t represent sadness, it is a color like any other color. Colors generate the energy we give them.
• Wearing black doesn’t mean you are not a risk taker. Your style shouldn’t have color restrictions.
