Hey PHAT Girls, HAPPY FRIDAY!
So, today I have three great looks i want to share with you. The gag is, all the looks have something in common… The skirt! Why? Because I️ really like the skirt! Oh, and I️ also wanted to have a conversation about re-wearing clothes and how your style can create a totally different vibe.
Now, I️ am not talking about jeans or other basics; because if you are like me, those things stay on replay. I️ am talking statement pieces. You know those unforgettable pieces, the ones that get all the attention. The garment may have a funky print, it may be a popping color, or it may be uniquely constructed. Whatever the case is, the article of clothing is one that won’t soon be forgot. So, how in the heck do you wear it again without invoking Déjà vu?
Personally, I️ have always had an issue with re-wearing certain clothing. However, as a blogger/style influencer, it has become even more of an issue. Like, do I️ wear the pieces first or get photographed and put them on the blog first? And if the clothes go on the blog first, will people side eye me when I️ wear them out because they have seen them before? Ugh… just typing this is giving me a damn headache!
This is something that has bothered me so much that I️ asked other bloggers/influencers how they handled it. To my surprise, many for them felt the same way that I️ did. Of course, you have the born fashionistas like my sis NikkiFree who rarely re-wear clothing and then there is my girl Ty Alexander. Ty basically gives no f@cks, she said she wears her clothes as frequently she feels like it and she does so without concerns or hesitations!
While I️ am totally here for the way that Ty feels about wearing clothes, I️ think that it is important to understand that we can re-wear clothing without creating a moment of Déjà vu. How? By styling that statement piece differently… DUH!
I️ know you have heard the statement, “fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it!” Well, that statement is one that I️ have learned to live by. I️ remember always complaining about having nothing to wear (I️ still do occasionally) but once I️ begin stepping out of the box and really owning my unique style, that was no longer a statement I️ made frequently. My style allows me to look at my wardrobe in a totally different manner; it created endless possibilities. Now when I️ say I️ have nothing to wear, it is code for: I️ want to go shopping or I️ am going shopping.
I first saw this skirt at The Curvy Con, GabiFresh was wearing it and I️ was in love. I️ told her right then, go ahead and let me take a picture with you wearing the skirt; this way I️ can share the photo with my readers when I️ add the skirt to, “My Style Journal”; which is exactly what I️ am doing today. It would have been easy for me to mimic her look because it was super cute but, that is not my style; that is Gabi’s style. So, today I️ am sharing it by incorporating exactly what you are here to check out… MY STYLE!
I decided to present this skirt to you like this in an effort to show you that it is all about style. When you apply your style, you can slay the same garment as many times as you want and always create a different vibe. Don’t Believe me… JUST WATCH!

So, tell me… do you re-wear your clothing or are you a fashionista like my sister NikkiFree that only wears most pieces once? If you have pictures of items you have styled and worn several different ways, head over to the PHAT Girl fresh Facebook page and share them under this post. I want to see how you slayed your garments… AGAIN! Maybe you can give me a little style inspiration.
Oh, and listen girl, there is no shame in re-wearing clothes or not having a massive wardrobe. Life and fashion are not about what you don’t have, it is about how you slay what you do have!
Hold up! Way too cute! I love all three! I think my favorite may be the denim. I love when glam and casual are mixed! Lookin’ good, Maui-cakes!
I love your flavor of style but I would call you a “MoreB” girl. Phat is good too but used a lot. I just think you deserve an original title. Your pure awesomeness! MoreB girl is a girl that gives you more beauty at a glance.
