Did you know that October is also Domestic Violence Awareness month? Well it is, and just like breast cancer, domestic violence claims the lives of too many women. While the number of deaths due to domestic violence are lower then they have been in years, the number of cases are at an all time high.
Last year alone there were 1.4 million cases where women were assaulted by their mates. So, women are getting their asses beat but not killed……..BASICALLY!!
While strolling down my timeline a couple of days ago, I came across this poem that one of my Facebook friends wrote about her domestic violence experience. I had to share it with you because it is so vital that people understand that domestic violence has no face. You can’t look at a person and tell whether or not they have been victimized. Many of us wear the mask in an effort to hide our truth.
Toni Dugar is a mother and a wife. She lives with and advocates for Lupus. Toni is passionate, happy, appreciative and true but most of all she survived domestic violence. Below you will find her truth…..
